The rakhi is made of brass also known as Pital in Hindi, used for making religious articles and the technique is age old rich skill of Dhokra from the prehistoric civilization of Harappa. This is an attempt to break the monotony of plastic and bring back the charm of handcrafted Rakhis.
The use of Dhokra, which has made a mark since the prehistoric civilisation of Harappa gives it a touch of heritage and luxury.
Dhokhra is a 5000 years old art form, with the dancing girl of Mohenjodaro being its earliest artefact. It is an ancient method of making metal artifacts by a wax-casting technique. The process of making Dhokra is delicate and uses only natural raw materials. The basic mould is made with fine sand (mostly found next to the river banks) and clay. Belonging to a rare and unique breed of items and processes, the Dhokra products are indeed a collectible.
