Highly revered by the people of Rajasthan, Gogaji is a folk deity who was a prince and is praised and worshiped for the brave wars he waged toward righteous causes. Respected by both the Hindus as Goga and by the Muslims as Jahar Peer, Gogaji is an immensely popular local, regional deity rather than a religious entity. Almost all villages have accorded a sacred place for his worship and a wonderful tradition of music has evolved out of the veneration for him. Tales of his life are sung of as a social celebration to the accompaniment of a traditional instrument called Deru and the village folk sing and dance in love for their Peer (seer). There are different compositions celebrating varying episodes of his life and this album is a compilation of the same.
