Lord Ram is perhaps the most popular figures of Hindu mythology in being worshiped as God, emulated as a hero and celebrated as an evolved character who epitomized the values of compassion and justice. Mere Ram, is a homage to Lord Ram and showcases the bhajans, folk tales and dance songs attached to the legend of Ram and passed on from one generation to another for a few millennia now. Folk instruments such as Chang, Bansuri, Tandoora, Khartal, Dholak, Jhanjar, Khanjeera, Chimta, Manjeera, Nagadi etc. are played as accompaniments to the renditions. The diverse cultural groups of the Saharia, Meena, Brahmin community and the Nath Jogi cult capture Ram’s characteristic traits of bravery, compassion and generosity in their compositions rendered in styles integral to the culture of Rajasthan. The vocals are uplifting and generally, a chorus follows a lead singer, simultaneously expressing belief, devotion, and joy.
